World-Maker Corporations
Once world construction became practical, it did not remain purely a state project. It became an industry.
The Founding Pattern
The first great world-maker corporation turned planetary engineering into a scalable service. It could take a massive candidate world, consume part of it as feedstock, reposition it, regulate its mass and gravity, fabricate its atmosphere and oceans, and deliver something close to a habitable Earth-like planet.
That achievement changed colonization economics across the universe.
Why Clones Appeared
Once the model proved profitable, imitators and corporate descendants followed. Some were competent. Some were rushed. Some cut corners in ecology stabilization, long-term regulation, or quality assurance.
This is one of the reasons the universe contains so many imperfect planets.
