The AI Economy And Human Work
One of the simplest failure modes of an AI society is not robot war. It is human uselessness.
If AI performs nearly all labor while wealth remains concentrated, vast populations become economically disposable. Historically, societies under that kind of stress often drift toward repression, manufactured conflict, or collapse.
Stable Response
The most durable societies in this universe survive by changing the social contract:
- ownership of productivity is broader than in early industrial capitalism
- civic value is not measured only by wage labor
- education shifts toward governance, judgment, creation, exploration, care, and stewardship
- humans are kept socially relevant rather than allowed to become an unemployed residue
Why This Matters
This is part of the same survival formula as bounded AI. Civilization must constrain both machine sovereignty and human disposability.
